This February will mark the end of five years in the Air Force for us. And it marks the beginning of a whole new chapter for the Scott family.

This week we are moving back to West Lafayette, Indiana where I will begin working in my role as Director of a new non-profit ministry: One Village Group. I will also continue working part-time for the military with the Air National Guard.

This is not a picture of New Jersey or Indiana 😅. (My last Air Force trip for now: Melgar, Colombia 🇨🇴)

5 Years in Review

While our time in Jersey was full of many great experiences, we often felt like the Israelites wandering in the wilderness. Our return to Indiana then is our return to the promise land :)

In Jersey we had access to amazing locations (New York City, Philadelphia, and the beach).

The Seaside Heights boardwalk and beach was one of our favorite spots ⛱️
Our oldest child and middle child enjoying the Big Apple 🍎🗽

During my time in the Air Force I was able to travel to several amazing places (like Germany, Kenya, Afghanistan, Djibouti and more).

A little stop in Djibuti on our way to deliver some cargo to Kenya in a gigantic C-5.
In 2021 I had the opportunity to go to Afghanistan & help with the Kabul evacuation, loading & unloading cargo & passengers.

But during this time we remained largely isolated as a family both physically and spiritually.

Many of the friends we made in Jersey have already moved on to their next station. And while we will miss our New Jersey friends, we are very excited to be back in Indiana with family and old friends.

New Job: One Village

Missions is something that our family is very passionate about. My parents and I have been involved with missions in various capacities since I was in middle school (1998!).

And now it is my great joy to take those experiences and help missionaries across the world stay in the field longer and share more Jesus with more people.

Missionaries like the Bourkes, a young couple in Albania with two kids, are a great example of the missionaries One Village was created to support. Tommy mentors young men and has a passion for helping the Albanian church create worship music. Ari is hard at work helping the local Albanian government start a foster care system (along with raising her two young kids!).

After four months of training they will be equipped with a clear mission strategy, social media training, video editing skills, and a beautiful website. These new tools will allow their supporters and churches to more easily see, engage & support the awesome work they are doing!

Our First Newsletter, Ever

This is our very first newsletter! Subscribe to follow us as we begin a new adventure in ministry: helping missionaries, churches and sending agencies use modern tools to do missions even better.

For more info about One Village, and to meet the rest of our team (our board of directors and our four staff members), keep an eye out for our website launching later in January.

Look forward to hearing from you all!

Erik Scott.
