Missionaries often live out-of-sight, which in our busy world means they are out-of-mind as well.
We're trying to change this using new tools, like social media (and updating old ones as well, like the trusty ol' newsletter). Here's one of the missionaries we are currently working with:
Meet Hannah Galler!
Hannah is on her way to Budapest, Hungary where she will be sharing Jesus with unreached 3-5 year olds and their families EVERYDAY.
The challenge comes in helping Hannah share her story with people who are buried under a whirlwind of information and busyness.
Our inboxes are full, we don't have time to read lengthy newsletters, and we are on the go every minute!
The solution: using the same digital tools that typically distract, to get peoples' attention.
Here's a great video to distract you... 😉
Facebook, Instagram, Reels, Twitter, YouTube, texting and blogs...
In today's world, these are the digital places where missionaries need to be in order to break through all the noise in people's lives.
Here are just four digital tools our team at One Village is using to help Hannah break through:
- First, we helped Hannah build and establish a blog (webpage) as her home base for sharing and connecting.
- Next, we helped her begin making regular posts and video updates (like the ones above) about Christian education and her mission.
- Third, we used multiple digital platforms to get her posts and updates directly in front of people who share her passion for Christian education.
- Lastly, we are driving all that digital traffic back to her blog page where people can subscribe, get to know her better, and join her mission.
Why This Matters?
The world of communications and how we live our daily lives has changed.
The need for missions has not.
To get in the field and begin working (or to stay in the field and continue working) missionaries like Hannah must learn to adapt.
And that's where One Village comes in! We spend time learning, testing and exploring new tools, so missionaries can stay focused on the mission: sharing Jesus.
